🌻 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I’ve never seen a mental health provider before. Is that normal?

Absolutely. Many people start caring for the first time because they’ve realized they don’t have to face everything alone. Reaching out for help shows courage and self-awareness, not weakness. At MyForteMind, care is a collaboration - we’ll work together to strengthen your mind, restore balance, and help you feel more in control of your emotional well-being.

How is this different from talking to a friend or family member?

Friends and loved ones can be wonderful sources of support, but professional care offers a deeper level of support. As a psychiatric provider, I provide evidence-based tools, therapeutic guidance, and medication expertise to help you identify patterns, manage emotions, and achieve lasting change - all in a confidential, judgment-free environment.

Do I have to take medication?

Not necessarily. Some patients benefit from a combination of therapy and medication, while others achieve good results with lifestyle and behavioral approaches alone. Together, we’ll explore what works best for you, focusing on safety, effectiveness, and your personal goals.

What is the treatment like at MyForteMind?

Each session is personalized to your needs. We’ll discuss your current challenges, mood, thoughts, and daily habits while exploring how sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress impact your overall well-being. When appropriate, we’ll also review your medications and make adjustments to ensure safety and effectiveness.

At MyForteMind, care is collaborative, compassionate, and judgment-free. I welcome individuals from all cultural and social backgrounds, and sessions are available in English or Spanish to help you feel comfortable and understood. You’ll be supported every step of the way, with education about your treatment and guidance toward helpful resources to improve access to care and long-term wellness.

The goal is progress, not perfection, and to help you build a balanced, healthier life at your own pace.

How long will it take to feel better?

Everyone’s journey is different. Some people notice improvement after a few sessions; others take longer, depending on their symptoms and goals. What matters most is your consistency, openness, and commitment to your own healing process.

How can I maximize the benefits of my sessions?

Be open, curious, and honest about your feelings. Ask questions, share updates, and practice the coping tools we discuss between sessions. The more engaged you are, the more meaningful your progress will be.

What if I feel frustrated or upset during my treatment sessions?

At MyForteMind, care is a partnership built on trust, respect, and open communication. Healing is not always a straight path, and it’s completely normal to feel frustrated, emotional, or even doubtful at times during your treatment.

If this happens, I encourage you to bring it up in session. These moments often lead to deeper understanding and meaningful progress. Mental health care works best when we approach challenges together, without blame or judgment.

My role is to listen, guide, and support you with professionalism, compassion, and clear boundaries that protect your safety and well-being. Healing takes teamwork, and that teamwork includes honesty, patience, and mutual respect.
